It's always a good idea to know your computer before you try to operate it. Here is some basic computer terminology that can help you identify 'those parts'. I've tried to keep the terminology as basic and straight-forward as possible.

Let's start with the basic anatomy of a computer:

Case: The case is simply the computer's shell. It's what holds the computer together. It also acts as a ground for the computer parts.

Hard Drive: The hard drive is the computer's long term memory. When the computer is turned off, it retains the information that you save on it, such as the operating system, programs, and various pieces of data, such as photos, music, and documents.

Motherboard: The motherboard's purpose is to transfer information from one component to another, such as your body's nervous system transfers impulses from your brain to other parts of your body.

CPU: The central processing unit (CPU) is responsible for controling the computer's functions, somewhat like your brain in your body.

Burners: Also know as CD and DVD-ROMS. They allow you to record data onto CD or DVD disks. Burners will also allow you to play the information on the disks.
